At LifeShip, your privacy is a top priority for us and we take protecting your information seriously. Our Privacy policy describes what information we collect from you and how we protect, maintain, use, and disclose it. We are committed to protecting your information through our compliance with this Privacy Policy.

Please carefully review this Privacy Statement and our Terms of Service. By using our Services, you acknowledge all of the policies and procedures described in the foregoing documents. If you do not agree with or you are not comfortable with any aspect of this Privacy Statement or our Terms of Service, you should immediately discontinue use of our Services.

What We Do With Your DNA

A summary of what LifeShip does with your DNA:

  • Your DNA sample gets stored at LifeShip’s facility or at a partner lab for processing
  • Your actual physical DNA gets preserved in a polymer in combination with other samples
  • Your DNA is stored in the capsule without identifying information connecting to your sample
  • The capsules get stored in remote places on Earth and in space
  • Your DNA does not get otherwise read or sequenced
  • Your DNA does not get sold or otherwise given out

We may in the future offer other services for your DNA. If so, you will get a choice to opt in to these.

What Types of Information We Collect

Account Information. You must provide certain information when you create an account or make a purchase on the LifeShip website in order to receive our Services. This information includes your name, email address, shipping address, phone number, credit card or other payment information, the password you create, date of birth, and phone number. Your account information also includes records and copies of any correspondence with you and details of any transactions you carry out through our Services.

Self-Reported Information. LifeShip may ask you to provide data about yourself, and the information you would like to send to the Moon. You are not required to answer these questions to receive our services

Genetic Information. You may provide us with biological sample(s), using our DNA collection kits, to allow us to preserve your DNA and send it to space. LifeShip does not otherwise use or sell your DNA.

Computer, Device and Browsing Information. As you interact with our services online, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and usage patterns. This data may include details such as:

Details of your visits to our Services, which could include: the resources that you access and use on the services; the external sites that referred you to our Services; and the external sites that you visit by clicking on a link on Information about your computer or device and internet connection, which could include:

  • Your IP address or other device ID
  • Your operating system
  • Your browser or device type

Why We Collect This Information

The information we collect helps us to improve our services. By enabling us to recognize you when you return to our services, store information about your preferences, customize our services according to your individual interests, and administer a survey or other feature of our website, it helps us deliver better and more personalized features to you. It also helps us to provide targeted advertising, estimate our audience size and usage patterns, and monitor the success of our marketing activities.

The technologies we use for this automatic data collection may include cookies. You may refuse to accept browser cookies through your browser settings. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our services. Unless you set your browser to refuse cookies, our system may issue cookies when you direct your browser to our services.

How We Use Your Information

We store the DNA sample you provide us in our bank. We extract a sample and include it in our capsules that are sent to the Moon and locations on Earth and in space. Your DNA is not sequenced and is stored in our capsules without identifying information connecting to your sample.

Except as otherwise described in this policy, we do not share your DNA or self-reported information with third parties without your consent. LifeShip will use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us only as described in this privacy policy:

To present, provide, and improve our Services. This includes the following:
providing you appropriate search results and personalized content; processing your purchases; verifying your identity; recognizing you when you return to our services; providing you notices about your account; notifying you about updates or changes to our services or any partner or other third party services we offer or provide through the LifeShip platform; and providing you with information or services that you otherwise request from us.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

Log files track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. Web beacons, tags, and pixels are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the site.

To improve our Services or to develop new products and services, we may use your information as follows: to track your usage of our services; to administer a survey; to perform quality control and quality improvement activities; to conduct data analysis about our audience size and usage trends; to conduct marketing campaigns and targeted online advertising; and to monitor the success of our marketing activities.


If you have purchased a product as a gift for someone else, your gift recipient must create their own account. LifeShip will not share any personal information of the gift recipient with you.


Our Services are not intended for anyone under the age of 18 years old without consent from a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from or on behalf of someone under 18 without a parent or guardian’s consent. If you are under 18 and without permission from a parent or guardian, do not register on our website or provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from or on behalf of someone under 18 without consent, we will make reasonable efforts to remove the information and/or user account and not make future use of that information to contact a minor. If you believe we might have any information from or about someone under 18, please contact us.

In the following two subsections, we describe how we use your genetic information and self-reported Information in particular:

Genetic Information

When you use the LifeShip Moon Kit to submit a saliva sample for storage of your DNA on the Moon, LifeShip stores your biological sample.

For the DNA product(s) you purchase, you allow LifeShip to share certain portion(s) of your DNA with the partner so that the partner can deliver the DNA to the Moon or other storage locations.

Uploaded Information. Self reported information includes information you wish to send to the moon with your DNA and information you choose to share on our Platforms. If you provide self-reported information to LifeShip, we may share this information with certain Partners with your permission to facilitate their DNA Products and related services.

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

Order Information

We use the order information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this order information to: communicate with you; Screen our orders for potential risk or fraud; and When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the device information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns, and for retargeting ads).

Sharing Your Personal Information

We share your personal information with third parties to help us use your personal information, as described above.

Please note that we do not alter our site’s data collection and use practices when we see a Do Not Track signal from your browser.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example, if you make an order through the site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. When you place an order through the site, we will maintain your order information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
